As co-founder of OPES, Masood leads the team by example. Working in the industry since 2002, Masood has a track record of delivering a first class service to his clients from around the world. He’s financed some of the largest property transactions in London.

Matthew Davies

OPES Co-founder Matthew joined the industry in 2006 where he trained in the niche and complex lending department of one of London’s leading finance brokerages. Matthew prides himself on his ability to deliver unassailable solutions to his portfolio of UHNW clients on large and often complex loan transactions.

Sai Shanmugam
– sales director
Sai heads up our team of elite brokers and is responsible for both business development and customer relationship management. He started his career in prime Central London properties in 2011. As a former professional swimmer, Sai has a highly competitive attitude which fast tracked his career over the last 10 years. He is now an integral part of the team where his focus is on growing the Opes brand. He is our in-house property expert and works closely with the team ensuring that our clients are receiving the best service and advice.

Matt Barker

Since joining Opes in 2015 Matt has developed into an outstanding broker having built key skills in a plethora of areas in property finance. He prides himself in his attention to detail and his ability to find solutions, tailoring his approach based on the circumstances of each individual client.

Max Gow Smith
– consultant, mortgage & protection
Following his achievement of a First Class Honours in Economics, Max joined the industry as a Mortgage Broker in 2017. After his initial grounding, he has expanded his brokering knowledge and experience at Opes by working on complex lending cases. This has included international/overseas customers, private lending, complex BTL investors & portfolio landlords, commercial, bridging, and financing development projects.
He places a focus on the client journey, from initial consultation to the successful drawdown of funds – and has built a reputation for consistently delivering ascertained solutions for his clients.

During his free time, Max is a keen tennis player and enjoys the culinary delights of London’s incredible restaurant scene.
Ed Palfreeman

Ed is our newest member of the Opes team. He comes from a background in real estate with experience from both estate agency and specialist lending. Ed understands what both the client and lender are looking for. He provides valuable support to both the Residential and Specialist Lending team, ensuring all deals progress smoothly and on time.

Scott Grieve

There’s no one quite like “Grievesy”. A big fan of “The Four Hour Working Week”, Scott knows how to work smart. His industry experience means he can find a solution in next to no time. A very reliable individual, he won’t let you down.
Out of the office Scott is likely to be found on the tennis court or improving his golf. He loves a pub quiz, a font of all knowledge or just very good at small talk. A very amiable chap indeed.
Julia Hoang

Julia joined the team in 2016 as an administrative assistant. She’s got a law degree from Queen Mary University, she’s very bright. Julia has quickly become an invaluable member of the team. She now runs the operations of the business.

The financial crisis of 2009 was a terrible time for the mortgage industry. With established firms going under and peers leaving the industry altogether.
“My son was 6 months old at the time, it was his smiling face at the end of difficult day that kept me motivated to keep going”.
At the time the prime London property market was being sustained by a flood of foreign investors taking advantage of a weakened Pound. We saw the opportunity to create a firm specialising in assisting wealthy clients from overseas. Rather than sitting in London waiting for clients to arrive we regularly travelled to wealth hubs in Europe, Russia CIS, Middle East and Asia offering our lending services to potential introducers and clients. From those early days of extensive economy travelling and out of a two desk windowless office in Mayfair we have funded some of the largest property transactions in London.
We’ve trained and developed a team of elite brokers. As a relatively small team in numbers we punch well above our weight in size and quality of transactions. We are established and respected industry leaders.
We’ve had our ups and downs, it’s not been easy but has always been fun. We’re proud of what we have achieved and immensely proud of the achievements of our team. Our annual Christmas holidays are legendary with trips to Barcelona, Frankfurt, Malta, Hong Kong & Macau, Miami and St Lucia, a time to refresh, consolidate and spend quality time after a busy year. Where to next I wonder…? Work hard, have fun and enjoy life.
